youth voiceThe Youth Voice

SAY works with our partners to help young people express and share their observations and concerns with the community.

Approach

When young people have a voice in decisions that affect them, they are motivated to participate in their community. This increases their sense of belonging, a key indicator of social and emotional well-being. SAY works with our Oak Park and River Forest partners to help young people develop the skills needed to express their concerns and share their viewpoints.

Along the way, they will learn essential skills such as teamwork, negotiation, accountability
and an appreciation of diversity. Mentors will empower young people to develop cooperative problem-solving skills and an awareness of social responsibility.
